Book Review: The Bookish Life of Nina Hill

How would I describe the new novel, THE BOOKISH LIFE OF NINA HILL by Abbi Waxman? Easy. It’s the perfect summer read.

Nina Hill is the best kind of book nerd, happy with her small life that includes working at her local bookstore, a giant planner, and a cat named Phil. Books are her best friends. She doesn’t need anyone else in her life and she’s perfectly fine with that arrangement. But after receiving news that she might have a family that she didn’t know existed her semi-isolated life starts to become more and more crowded. Plus, several run-ins with a hunky guy that smells of sawdust and plays for a competing trivia team leaves Nina feeling that she might need more than books in her life after all.

Hitting the bookshelves on July 9th, this perfect summer romantic comedy is set in Los Angeles and is filled humor and romance and the kind of drama that keeps things interesting without making you break out in a sweat. Abbi Waxman is funny and her writing has a wit that you can’t help but love. Her characters aren’t just interesting but are also smart and clever and quick-witted. Even characters that you think are terrible you can’t help but loving in the end.

If you read her two previous novels, THE GARDEN OF SMALL BEGINNINGS and OTHER PEOPLE’S HOUSES, then you’re in for an extra special treat since favorite characters from both of these novels reappear in BOOKISH. If for some crazy reason you haven’t read her previous novels, stop what you’re doing and get you butt down to your local library and pick them up. You won’t be disappointed.

You don’t have to be a book nerd to love THE BOOKISH LIFE OF NINA HILL. Yes, there are plenty of book references for all of us that are book lovers, but this fun, quick read is for anyone and everyone. Put your fuzzy socks on, grab a cup of tea and your cat (or small dog), and get cozy in your favorite reading chair with this great new book!
